Lengthen the lifespan of your lights with these practices.
We know that LEDs have a very long lifespan, compared to traditional lighting. However, you can make it last even longer with proper care. These lights may not need much maintenance, but it’s still best to check them out once in a while for any damage. Here are a few simple tips to lengthen the lifespan of your LED grow lights.
Use a power stabilizer
To prevent damaging your lights in case of power fluctuations, buy a power stabilizer. This device prevents the power drivers and other internal components to get damaged in case of power surges and spikes. One more thing to note, however, is to avoid plugging a power stabilizer into a power strip with many other devices. Doing so increases the chance of a short circuit, and worse, power outage. That said, it’s best to plug your power stabilizer in a dedicated outlet solely for it.
Keep away from water
LED grow lights, as with other electrical devices, should be placed far from any touch of water to prevent accidents such as short circuits and electrocution. In addition, make sure that your grow area or grow room is not high in moisture. Otherwise, water droplets might form on your lighting units and seep through electrical holes.
Regularly check the units
And as previously mentioned, it wouldn’t hurt to check your LED grow lights even if they don’t need much maintenance. That way, you’ll know if it’s time to clean them (learn how here), or if water droplets had already formed on their surfaces.
